Jerry Thomas High Jr., 61, of Whiteville, North Carolina, passed away on September 24, 2026, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Jerry was born on August 3, 1965, in Columbus County, North Carolina, to the late Jerry Thomas High Sr. and Rachel Spivey High.
He will be remembered for the life he lived, the memories he made, and the special place he held in the hearts of his family and friends. He enjoyed the simple things in life, and one of his greatest passions was fishing. Whether he was casting a line, enjoying the peacefulness of the water, or simply spending time outdoors, fishing brought Jerry happiness and was something he truly loved.
Above all, Jerry loved his family. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, great-uncle, and friend. The memories, laughter, and time shared with Jerry will continue to live on through those who knew and loved him.
Survived by his loving mother, Rachel Spivey High; his siblings, Johnny Thomas High and Shelly High Dew; his nieces, Brandi Reynolds and Abby High; his nephews, Coty Strickland, Christopher Strickland, and Nathaniel High; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Peyton, Briley, Aubrey, Myriah, and Jaxton. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Thomas High Sr.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery; The family will speak to friends at the cemetery.
Jerry Thomas High Jr. will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. While his absence leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled, his memory will remain in the stories told, the laughter remembered, and the countless moments shared with those he loved.
