WHITEVILLE, NC — A Whiteville man remains behind bars without bond following an investigation into a domestic shooting that left one person injured last week.
Kyron Spivey, 26, of Rico Road in Whiteville, was arrested on Friday, Sept. 25, and charged with attempted first-degree murder.
According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched on Sept. 22 after a victim called authorities to report they had been shot and were attempting to drive themselves to the hospital. Deputies located the victim, who appeared to be suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Emergency Medical Services then transported the victim to the hospital via ground ambulance.
Investigators determined the shooting stemmed from a domestic incident. While initial reports described the assault as a road rage encounter, further investigation clarified the domestic nature of the altercation.
Spivey was processed into the Columbus County Detention Center around 4:21 p.m. on Sept. 25 and given no bond.
The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office credited the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) Coastal District and the Whiteville Police Department for assisting in the joint investigation.
All individuals named in this report are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
