Shooting, Prison Contraband, and Fraud Highlight Sheriff’s Incident Log

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC — A shooting into an occupied vehicle, contraband and homemade weapons discovered inside detention facilities, and financial fraud complaints topped a busy series of calls for the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office over the weekend. Between Friday, Sept. 25, and Monday, Sept. 28, deputies responded to a wide range of incidents across the county, including active criminal investigations, warrant services, traffic stops, and property reports.

Friday, September 25, 2026

• Identity Theft (Chadbourn): Reported at 8:14 a.m. at 10268 Peacock Road; investigated by Deputy Allison S. Pierce.

• Credit Card / ATM Fraud (Hallsboro): Reported at 8:15 a.m. at Pierce & Co. (4229 Sam Potts Highway); investigated by Deputy Allison S. Pierce.

• Abandoned Vehicle (Whiteville): Reported at 10:42 a.m. at 1255 Prison Camp Road involving a Buick Lucerne; handled by Cpl. Stone A. Lee.

• Shooting into Occupied Vehicle (Whiteville): Reported at 7:46 p.m. at 17 Carucci Drive involving a shot fired into a Chevrolet Impala with occupants; investigated by Deputy Cail L. Brown.

• Detention Center Drug Contraband & Conspiracy (Whiteville): Reported at 11:01 a.m. at the Columbus County Detention Center (803 Washington Street) involving cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and cigarettes; investigated by Deputy Travis E. Tyson.

• Warrant Service (Whiteville): Executed at 4:18 p.m. at 3435 Tom Sessions Road by Deputy Matthew Ivey.

• Illegal Dumping (Tabor City): Reported at 4:24 p.m. at 1317 Minos Meares Road; handled by Cpl. Stone A. Lee.

• Found Property (Whiteville): Reported at 6:28 p.m. at White Marsh Baptist Church (341 Whitehall Road) involving a found brown wallet; handled by Deputy James Lennon.

• Warrant Service (Whiteville): Executed at 9:41 p.m. at 1453 Red Hill Road by Deputy Daniel Miesieski.
