FDA RECALL: United Sugar Producers & Refiners has announced a Class II recall involving nearly 1.7 million pounds of brown and powdered sugar due to undeclared wheat kernels. The contamination affects multiple brands, including United, Good & Gather, and Crystal Sugar.
The recalled products include two‑pound consumer bags and 25‑ to 50‑pound foodservice bags produced in batch range MHD26223 through MHD26230. The presence of wheat kernels poses an allergen risk for individuals with wheat sensitivity or celiac disease. Consumers are advised to discard the sugar or return it to the retailer.
No illnesses have been reported. The FDA classifies the recall as Class II, indicating potential but typically reversible health effects.
