WHITEVILLE, NC — A Riegelwood woman was booked twice into the Columbus County Detention Center this week on severe felony child abuse charges following an investigation by the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.
Caitlyn Joy Pierce, 33, of Country Club Trail in Riegelwood, was initially booked on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026, charged with felony child abuse causing serious injury. She was released the same day under a $5,000 unsecured bond.
However, detention center records indicate Pierce was re-booked on Wednesday, Sept. 30, facing an additional charge of intentional child abuse inflicting serious physical injury. She was issued a $100 secured bond for the secondary booking. The circumstances leading up to the charges remain under investigation by local authorities.
All individuals named in this report are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
