EAST ARCADIA, NC — A vehicle fire in neighboring Bladen County near the Columbus County line prompted an early morning response from the East Arcadia Fire Department on October 2.
According to the department, firefighters were dispatched at approximately 3:40 a.m. to a reported vehicle fire on Carter Road within the East Arcadia town limits.
Heavy fog across the area created extremely limited visibility for responding crews, requiring firefighters to slow their response and use additional caution while traveling to the scene.
Firefighter L. Rossell, driving the first-arriving apparatus, found a single vehicle fully involved in flames upon arrival. Chief L. Hall assumed command of the incident.
Rossell deployed a hose line and began fire suppression efforts while Hall operated the apparatus and pump. Additional East Arcadia Fire Department personnel arrived shortly afterward and assisted with extinguishing the fire and securing the scene.
Fire officials also reminded motorists to use caution when driving in reduced-visibility conditions.
No additional information regarding injuries or the cause of the fire was released.
