WHITEVILLE, NC — Local families looking for a safe and celebratory way to mark Halloween can head to Southeastern Community College later this month for a community-wide Trunk or Treat event.
Columbus County Parks and Recreation has partnered with Southeastern Community College (SCC) and the H.E.A.R.T.S. Foundation to host the festivities on Thursday, Oct. 29. The event will run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the SCC campus, located at 4564 Chadbourn Highway in Whiteville.
Organizers are promising a “spooktacular” evening filled with decorated vehicle trunks, games, food, and plenty of free candy. Attendees of all ages are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite Halloween costumes to take part in a scheduled costume and trunk decorating contest.
The event brings together county recreation leaders, college staff, and the grassroots Chadbourn-based nonprofit H.E.A.R.T.S. (Helping Everyone Achieve Rewards Toward Success) Foundation to provide a safe, family-oriented environment for area youth.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information regarding event guidelines or trunk participation, contact Columbus County Parks and Recreation.
