FDA Expands Recall of Walmart Frozen Organic Berries Linked to E. Coli

Organic Frozen Blueberries

Consumers in North Carolina are urged to check freezers for recalled Great Value organic blueberries and triple berry blends sold at Walmart.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has announced an expanded recall involving frozen organic berry products sold under Walmart’s Great Value brand after the products were linked to an E. coli outbreak that sickened 17 people and hospitalized six. No deaths have been reported.

The FDA has expanded the recall to include additional lots of Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend and Great Value Organic Blueberries distributed to Walmart stores in 30 states, including North Carolina.

The recalled products include:
• Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend, 10-ounce bags • Lot Codes: 6 031 01 and 6 041 01 • Best If Used By Dates: Jan. 31, 2028, and Feb. 10, 2028

• Great Value Organic Blueberries, 10-ounce bags • Lot Codes: 6 019 01, 6 040 01, and 6 163 01 • Best If Used By Dates: Jan. 19, 2028; Feb. 9, 2028; and June 12, 2028

Federal health officials said the recall expansion follows traceback investigations connecting the products to an outbreak of E. coli infections in Florida and Georgia.

Anyone who has purchased the recalled berries should discard them immediately or return them to Walmart for a full refund.

Consumers are also encouraged to clean and sanitize any containers, surfaces, or utensils that may have come into contact with the berries.

Additional information about the recall is available through the FDA’s recall database.
