CERRO GORDO, NC — A local woman was taken into custody Monday evening following a call that resulted in an active arrest warrant execution and additional misdemeanor charges.
According to incident reports from the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Cail L. Brown responded to a residence located at 1918 Cherry Grove Road in Cerro Gordo around 4:52 p.m. on Oct. 5 to serve outstanding judicial papers. During the interaction, the subject resisted law enforcement officers on scene.
Ashley Edwards, 39, of 120 Mack Edwards Lane in Cerro Gordo, was arrested and transported to the Columbus County Detention Center. She was formally charged with misdemeanor resisting a public officer and served with an order for arrest for failure to appear on a previous misdemeanor charge.
Edwards was booked under a $5,000 secured bond for the failure to appear warrant and was issued a $0.00 / no-bond status on the resisting charge.
All individuals named in this report are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
