WHITEVILLE — A burglary investigation in Whiteville resulted in felony charges and a high bond for a local man, along with the arrest of a co-defendant.
John Burvie Spivey Jr., 36, of Whiteville, was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center on the evening of October 6. Deputies responded to a break-in at 766 Whitehall Road around 4:00 PM, where property was reported stolen from victim Richard Hoyt. Investigators seized a Mercury vehicle and recovered 0.42 grams of methamphetamine, 0.72 grams of an unidentified powder, and drug paraphernalia.
Spivey was charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking/entering, felony conspiracy to commit building larceny, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was held under a $75,000 secured bond.
Stephanie Renee Fowler, 41, of Tabor City, was also arrested in connection with the incident. She was charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking/entering, felony conspiracy, and possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver methamphetamine. Her bond was set at $10,000 secured.
