Annual Trooper Kevin Conner Memorial Run Returns to Downtown Whiteville Sat Oct. 10

WHITEVILLE, N.C. — Downtown Whiteville will fill with runners, walkers, and community supporters on Saturday, October 10, 2026, as the Trooper Kevin Conner Memorial Foundation, Inc. hosts its annual Trooper Kevin Conner Memorial Run.

The event honors the life and legacy of N.C. State Highway Patrol Master Trooper Kevin Keith Conner (B-551), who was killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop on October 17, 2018. Remembered by loved ones and colleagues as an avid runner and dedicated public servant, Conner’s memory continues to unite regional law enforcement and local communities each fall.

Event Details & Schedule

• Date: Saturday, October 10, 2026

• Location: Downtown Whiteville (Start/Finish staging at 422 S. Madison Street, near First Citizens Bank on W. Columbus St.)

• 5K Start Time: 8:30 AM (Timed event)

• 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk Start Time: 8:35 AM (Untimed event)

• Virtual Participation: 5K and 1-Mile options are also available for off-site participants.

Both course options take participants through Downtown Whiteville. The 5K course is USA Track & Field certified, and both routes are stroller and wheelchair accessible. Organizers note that pets are not permitted on the course. All finishers will receive a commemorative medal.

Supporting Area Students

All event proceeds directly benefit the Trooper Kevin Conner Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance to high school seniors residing in Columbus and Bladen counties. The foundation awards multi-year scholarships to local students pursuing higher education who demonstrate strong leadership, academic dedication, and community service.

Supporters who wish to contribute without participating in the run can make direct donations to the scholarship fund through the event registration portal.
