WHITEVILLE — A joint operation between local and regional law enforcement agencies culminated in a search warrant execution on Thursday, resulting in the arrest of a Whiteville man on multiple felony drug charges.
Christopher Jerome Taylor, 49, of Whiteville, was taken into custody on October 8 following a search of a residence located at 402 W. Lewis Street.
The raid was carried out by the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Vice/Narcotics Unit, the CCSO Criminal Investigations Division, the Whiteville Police Department, and members of the Border Belt Drug Task Force.
According to Sheriff W. A. Rogers, the search warrant served as the conclusion to a months-long investigation targeting illegal drug distribution in the Whiteville area. Throughout the operation, undercover detectives conducted multiple controlled purchases of illegal narcotics from Taylor.
During the search of the West Lewis Street residence, investigators seized illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and several concealed firearms.
Taylor was processed at the county facility and charged with:

Felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance

Felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver cocaine

Felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver marijuana
-
Three felony counts of manufacturing, selling, delivering, or possessing a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school
-
Maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place for keeping or selling controlled substances
-
Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia
Taylor received a $25,000 unsecured bond.
Sheriff Rogers noted that the proactive efforts of the Vice/Narcotics Unit and partner agencies remain essential to removing dangerous substances and firearms from local neighborhoods, adding that investigators are continuing to pursue additional leads regarding narcotics distribution in the community.
