FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BOLIVIA, NC — For the fifth consecutive year, the Brunswick County Child Support Enforcement team has earned the Certificate of Excellence from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). Awarded annually to North Carolina’s top-performing programs, Brunswick is one of only three counties in the state to receive the honor for Fiscal Year 2026.
Operating with a 12-member team, Brunswick County handled an average of 2,938 cases over the past fiscal year, managing millions of dollars in collections and payments. Agents deliver a full range of essential services for local children, including locating noncustodial parents, establishing legal paternity, setting support obligations, and collecting and distributing funds.
During FY 2026 (July 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026), Brunswick County (pop. 174,702) met every goal across collections, incentives, and self-assessment metrics—a distinction shared only by Lenoir (pop. 55,837) and Sampson (pop. 61,504) counties. Additionally, Brunswick County exceeded every statewide average performance rate.
“Receiving this award five years in a row is a true testament to our team’s dedication and professionalism,” said Social Services Director Robby Hall. “We are extraordinarily proud of their hard work and thrilled to see them recognized at the state level.”
NCDHHS presented the certificate at its annual Child Support Services Conference, and the Brunswick County Board of Commissioners personally honored the team at its recent meeting.
“On behalf of the Board of Commissioners, I want to express our deep appreciation to our Child Support Enforcement team for their daily commitment to our youngest residents,” said Brunswick County Chairman Mike Forte. “They exemplify respect, collaboration, and accountability at the highest level.”
Health and Human Services Executive Director Catherine Lytch added, “I commend our staff on being named one of North Carolina’s elite teams once again. We are also deeply grateful to our caseworkers and judicial partners, whose collaboration is vital to reaching these goals.”
