Free October presentation in Little River will examine folklore and legends from Horry and Georgetown counties
LITTLE RIVER, SC — Residents interested in local folklore, ghost stories, and long-standing coastal traditions will have an opportunity to learn more during a free community program hosted by Horry County Parks & Recreation and the Horry County Museum.
The presentation, titled Local Superstitions and Ghost Stories, is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, at 2:00 p.m. at the C.B. Berry Community Center, located at 2250 SC Highway 179 in Little River.
According to organizers, the program will explore the history and folklore tied to Horry and Georgetown counties, highlighting stories and superstitions that have been passed down through generations. Topics may include local legends surrounding supposedly haunted locations as well as traditional beliefs that remain visible today, such as the use of blue-painted porch ceilings found on many homes throughout the region.
The event is designed to provide historical context behind some of the area’s most enduring tales while examining how folklore has become woven into local culture over time.
No registration is required to attend, and there is no admission fee.
