Operation Crash Reduction started today October 12th and runs through October 18 — with increased focus on seat belt and child restraint use.
The Sunset Beach Police Department is reminding motorists that law enforcement agencies across North Carolina are participating in Operation Crash Reduction, a statewide traffic safety campaign aimed at reducing injuries and saving lives on the road.
The campaign, coordinated through the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program focuses on promoting safe driving habits, particularly the use of seat belts and child safety restraints.
During the weeklong initiative, officers will be conducting enforcement and educational efforts to ensure drivers and passengers are properly buckled up. Law enforcement agencies will also be checking that young children are correctly secured in approved child safety seats.
Officials say the campaign serves as a reminder that seat belts remain one of the most effective ways to prevent serious injuries and fatalities during traffic crashes.
The Sunset Beach Police Department encourages all motorists and passengers to make seat belt use a daily habit and to ensure children are properly restrained every time they travel.
