HORRY COUNTY, SC — First responders in Horry County turned a tricky situation into a safe rescue yesterday after a horse trailer became stuck in a ditch in the Nichols area.
Horry County Fire Rescue (HCFR) crews were dispatched to the scene when the vehicle’s owners found themselves unable to safely extricate the animal. Upon arrival, emergency responders worked hand-in-hand with the owners to stabilize the trailer and coordinate a careful rescue plan.
Thanks to the combined effort, the horse, named “Risen,” was safely freed from both the trailer and the ditch without sustaining any injuries.
HCFR officials commended the seamless teamwork between crews and the animal’s owners, noting that while shift duties across the region often bring unexpected challenges, quick coordination ensured a positive outcome for all involved.
