WHITEVILLE, N.C. — A 32-year-old Robeson County man is being held without bond at the Columbus County Detention Center following a domestic violence investigation early this week.

Bontreal Montric Campbell, of Lumberton, was taken into custody by Columbus County Sheriff’s deputies at 12:03 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2. Authorities charged Campbell with assault on a female and a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.

The charges stem from an investigation led by Det. Franklin Blanton Jr., who responded to a domestic disturbance call along the 5300 block of Andrew Jackson Highway South West in Chadbourn earlier Monday morning. According to sheriff’s office incident logs, 40-year-old Shawana Latoria Mitchell was identified as the victim of a physical altercation involving hands or physical force.

Campbell remains in custody under a domestic hold with no bond set pending his initial court appearance.

All individuals named in this report are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
