CHADBOURN, NC — Cross-warrants led to the arrest of two individuals on domestic violence charges following a Thursday morning dispute in Chadbourn.
Deputy Timothy Harrington responded to a residence at 436 Old Stake Road at 9:28 a.m. on Nov. 5 after receiving reports of a domestic disturbance involving personal weapons.
Following an investigation into the physical altercation, officers arrested 18-year-old Mariah Nicole Joyce Stuart of the home address and 27-year-old Joseph Lee Murphy of 168 Godwin Trail, Chadbourn.
Stuart was charged with Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence and Simple Assault. Murphy was charged with Misdemeanor Crime of Domestic Violence and Assault on a Female. Both individuals were transported to the Columbus County Detention Center, where they were held without bond under domestic violence stay-away protocols.
All individuals named in this report are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
