WHITEVILLE, NC — Power has been fully restored to roughly 1000 Duke Energy customers on the west side of Whiteville and surrounding area within Columbus County this evening. Duke Enery reported that a major power line was damaged which caused an outage Saturday evening leaving neighborhoods surrounding West Virgil Street in the dark. According to Duke Energy, repairs were completed as of 7:19 p.m.
With repairs finished, Duke Energy is asking any customers who still do not have power to report it directly to the utility so crews can investigate individual issues. The company notes that isolated outages may not automatically register on its system and encourages customers to submit a report online.
