Horry County, SC — Conway Medical Center will host “Saved by the Scan,” a free community lung health event on Wednesday, November 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Conway Medical Center, pond behind the Administration Building, 300 Singleton Ridge Road in Conway.
The event is designed to help residents learn more about lung cancer screening and determine whether they may qualify for a low-dose CT scan. According to event organizers, lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths, but early detection can improve treatment options and outcomes.
All attendees will have the opportunity to meet with a Conway Medical Center primary care provider for a free consultation focused on lung health, personal risk factors, and screening recommendations.
The first 50 participants who meet screening guidelines will be eligible to receive a free low-dose CT scan. Organizers note that scans will be scheduled after the event and will not be performed on-site. Individuals ages 50 to 80 who are current or former smokers may qualify.
Visitors will also be able to tour the Ion Mobile Experience and watch live demonstrations of Ion robotic bronchoscopy, a minimally invasive procedure designed to reach small areas deep within the lungs.
Additional resources will be available from Conway Medical Center’s cancer care team, dietitians, Health Reach wellness screening staff, and community vendors including American HomePatient, Resource Medical, and CCC.
The event will also feature food trucks, music, a photo booth, giveaways, and promotional opportunities from RefineMD Aesthetics & Beyond.
The event is free and open to the public and free to register
