Columbus County, NC — The American Red Cross will host two community blood‑drive events in Columbus County during October, offering residents multiple opportunities to donate and support regional blood‑supply needs.
The first drive is set for Thursday, October 1, at Chadbourn Baptist Church, located at 504 North Howard Street, in Chadbourn. Donation hours run from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Whole‑blood appointments will be available, with each donation typically involving about a pint of blood and taking roughly an hour to complete.
A second drive will follow later in the month on Wednesday, October 21, at the Columbus County Government Building B, located at 127 West Webster Street, Whiteville. The event is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
This mid‑month session will offer both whole‑blood and Power Red donation options. Power Red donations collect red cells while returning most plasma and platelets to the donor. This method is reserved for donors who meet specific eligibility requirements and have type A‑negative, B‑negative, or O‑type blood.
