WHITEVILLE, NC — Dollar General is expected to hold its grand‑opening celebration at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, for the company’s newest Whiteville location at 804 James Street. The store quietly opened earlier this week, becoming the third Dollar General operating inside the Whiteville city limits.

The James Street store joins the existing locations on Duval Street in South Whiteville and at 2448 James B. White Highway North. The new store features Dollar General’s updated grocery‑forward layout, offering expanded refrigerated and frozen foods, pantry staples, household supplies, and everyday essentials. Positioned just off James B. White Highway, the location fills a retail gap between the Duval Street and James B. White Highway stores, giving nearby neighborhoods a closer option for quick shopping.

As part of Saturday’s celebration, the first 50 visitors will receive a special gift from the store. Promotional pricing and in‑store giveaways are also expected, consistent with Dollar General’s typical launch events.
Customers have already begun visiting the store in the days leading up to the grand opening. The additional location is expected to ease traffic at the two older Whiteville stores and follows Dollar General’s recent pattern of adding sites in rural and residential areas across Columbus County.
