NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC — North Myrtle Beach High School remains under a temporary safety status as of 2:25 p.m. Wednesday while law enforcement officers conduct a room-by-room sweep of the facility following an 9-1-1 emergency call.

Horry County Schools spokesperson Lisa Bourcier confirmed that all students and staff are safe inside the building. Administrators maintained a “hold” protocol across the Sea Mountain Highway campus, restricting movement in hallways while allowing structured instruction to continue behind locked classroom doors.

Officers with the Horry County Police Department remain on scene actively investigating the notification and securing the surrounding property.

District leaders emphasized that the facility will remain under hold status until law enforcement completes its search and issues an official “all-clear” signal. Local authorities will release a public notification immediately upon the protocol being formally lifted.

Community members and parents are again requested to refrain from traveling toward the campus area. Keeping nearby roadways clear ensures first responders can conclude their operational search quickly and safely.
