CHADBOURN, NC —  Chadbourn officials are inviting residents to attend a public hearing next month regarding a request to voluntarily annex more than 34 acres of property located along Chadbourn Highway.

According to a public legislative hearing notice issued by the town, the property owner has petitioned for the non-contiguous annexation of approximately 34.3 acres identified as Columbus County Parcel No. 025132. The tract is currently located within the town’s extraterritorial jurisdiction.

The Chadbourn Town Council will consider the request during a public legislative hearing scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on November 3, 2026, at Town Hall, 602 North Brown Street.

Town records indicate the annexation petition was received August 13 and references property descriptions contained in Columbus County Register of Deeds records.

Residents wishing to learn more about the proposal or provide public comment will have an opportunity to do so during the hearing before the council considers any action on the annexation request.

Individuals requiring hearing-impaired accommodations are encouraged to contact the Town Clerk no later than Oct. 30.

The notice was issued by David Wise, Chadbourn’s zoning administrator and town manager.
