SUNSET BEACH, NC — The Town of Sunset Beach Planning Board will meet Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in the Council Chambers at 700 Sunset Blvd. North, where members will consider two regulatory amendments involving floodplain standards and recreational vehicle utility connections. The meeting is open to the public.

The first item proposes updates to several sections of Article 5: Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance. The changes are intended to align the Town’s ordinance with the language adopted in the 2026 North Carolina Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance. A staff report and draft ordinance have been prepared for review.

The second item includes amendments to Section 3.6.J and Section 3.31 of the Town’s Unified Development Ordinance. The revisions address water and wastewater connections for recreational vehicles and the parking of personal watercraft on vacant lots.

Any recommendations made by the Planning Board will move forward to the Town Council for additional consideration.
