Atlantic Beach, NC — Saturday, August 29, 2026 marks four years since Randy Miller was murdered in his driveway while preparing his boat for a day of fishing. Atlantic Beach is located on Bogue Banks in Carteret County, roughly three hours northeast of the Grand Strand and part of North Carolina’s Crystal Coast.
Investigators say Miller was getting ready for a morning on the water when a man walking down the road approached him and stabbed him, killing him at the scene. Despite extensive investigative work by the Atlantic Beach Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the case remains unsolved.
State investigators say they still need the public’s help identifying and locating the person responsible. A $100,000 reward is available for information that leads to an arrest. Officials emphasize that even a small detail – something seen, heard, or remembered – could help move the case forward and bring answers to Miller’s family.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the SBI at 919‑662‑4500 or the Atlantic Beach Police Department at 252‑726‑2523
