BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC — On September 1, 2026 Brunswick County Public Utilities is preparing for an overnight water outage at the St. James community as crews move ahead with a gate valve installation on Medina Court. The work will temporarily shut off water service to six homes and will trigger a boil water advisory once service is restored early Wednesday morning.
The outage will affect residences at 2682, 2684, 2686, 2688, 2690, and 2692 Medina Court. County staff say water will be turned off beginning at 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, with service expected to return before 5:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Ahead of the shutdown, residents are encouraged to store water for basic household needs. Public Utilities also notes that multiple fire hydrants in the immediate area will be out of service during the installation period.
Once water comes back on, all affected customers will be under a boil water advisory.
The county instructs residents to boil tap water for one minute before drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, or preparing food. Bottled water may be used as an alternative until the advisory is lifted. Brunswick County will issue a public notice when the system has cleared and normal use can resume.
