Raleigh, NC — The NC Rural Center is asking rural North Carolinians to weigh in on the issues shaping their communities. The organization has launched its 2026 Rural Issues Poll, an online survey designed to capture what’s working well, what challenges persist, and what deserves more attention in rural counties across the state.
Residents do not need to attend an in‑person stop on the Rural Center’s listening tour to participate.
The poll is open statewide and takes only a few minutes to complete. Responses will help guide the Rural Center’s 2027 Advocacy Platform, which outlines the policy priorities the organization brings forward on behalf of rural communities.
The Rural Center’s fall 2026 Rural Listening Tour includes visits to ten rural communities, where staff will meet directly with residents. The online poll ensures that anyone who cannot attend still has an opportuniity to share their perspective.
Founded in 1987 and based in Raleigh, the NC Rural Center is a statewide nonprofit focused on improving economic opportunity and quality of life in rural North Carolina. Its work includes research and advocacy on issues such as broadband access, healthcare, housing, workforce development, small‑business support, and infrastructure. The Rural Center also operates leadership programs including the Rural Economic Development Institute and Homegrown Leaders, which have trianed more than 1,250 rural leaders statewide.
