Man Arrested After Barricading Himself Inside Residence

BOILING SPRING LAKES, NC — A 35‑year‑old man has been arrested after police responded to a reported assault at a residence earlier this week.

According to the Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department, officers were dispatched to the home on September 8, 2026, following a report of an assault. When officers arrived, they learned that Cody Hughes Clifton had barricaded himself inside the residence. Officers made entry and subsequently took Clifton into custody.

Clifton is charged with Felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Felony Attempted First‑Degree Arson, two counts of Misdemeanor Injury to Personal Property, and Misdemeanor Simple Assault. He is currently being held at the Brunswick County Detention Center under no bond.

The Boiling Spring Lakes Police Department stated it remains committed to protecting residents and maintaining the safety and security of the community.
