Vivian Rowe – Ocean Isle Beach, NC

Vivian Rowe, 95, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026. Vivian was born in Detroit, MI, on January 27, 1931, to the late Harold and Helen Meyer.

Vivian was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend who always put her family first. Born during the Great Depression, she carried remarkable inner strength, independence and resilience throughout her life. When her husband of 67 years, John, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2012, Vivian became his devoted full-time caregiver, caring for him during the final seven years of his life while she herself was in her 80s. Even while facing her own health challenges during the past five years, Vivian remained fiercely independent and insisted on continuing to live in her home in Brick Landing until the final months of her life.

Vivian also knew how to enjoy life. She loved playing golf, which was one of the reasons she and John chose to retire at Brick Landing. She was an avid sports fan and rarely missed a chance to watch a game—or Fox News. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to laugh, but what mattered most to her was her family. No matter what was happening in her own life, Vivian was always there for her children, offering her love, support, and encouragement.

Vivian is survived by her sons, Gary Rowe of Carlsbad, CA, and Dennis Rowe (Deborah) of Columbia, SC; her daughter, Kathy Ward of Conway, SC; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Brunswick Funeral Service Shallotte Chapel. Inurnment will follow at St. Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church Columbarium.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Vivian Rowe’s honor to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, P.O. Box 414238, Boston, MA 02241
