Town of Leland Burn Ban Lifted

Improved conditions allow return to permitted open burning within town limits

The Town of Leland has lifted its town‑specific burn ban as of 8:00 a.m. today, Tuesday, Sept. 15. The restriction applied only within Leland’s municipal limits and had been in effect since June 9 due to unfavorable conditions for open burning.

Town officials report that conditions have improved enough to resume permitted burning, but they urge residents to continue exercising caution. Before burning, residents should review any remaining restrictions, monitor weather changes, and ensure debris fires are never left unattended.

Burn permits are available through authorized permitting agents or online through the NC Forest Service. Officials emphasize that responsible burning practices remain essential even with the ban lifted.
