WHITEVILLE, NC — A Whiteville woman was arrested Thursday evening following a law enforcement encounter on Smyrna Road.
Cheree Mercedez McLaurin, 32, of 53 Mill Stream Drive, Apt. B, Whiteville, was taken into custody at 10:04 p.m. on September 10.
According to Sheriff’s Office incident logs, a deputy was conducting a call for service near 3784 Smyrna Road when McLaurin allegedly littered and resisted the officer’s commands.
McLaurin was charged with:

Resisting a public officer

Littering not exceeding 10 lbs
She was placed under a $2,500 unsecured bond and released from the detention center later that night.
