HALLSBORO, NC — Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating a pair of financial crime reports filed within minutes of each other in eastern Columbus County on Friday morning.
Deputy Allison S. Pierce responded to the first call at 8:14 a.m. on Sept. 25 along the 10200 block of Peacock Road in Chadbourn, where a 40-year-old resident reported being the victim of identity theft.
At 8:15 a.m., Deputy Pierce received a second call to Pierce & Co. at 4229 Sam Potts Highway in Hallsboro. Management at the business reported an incident of credit card and automated teller machine (ATM) fraud.
Both investigations remain active and open.
All individuals named in this report are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
