TABOR CITY, NC — Four juveniles face potential charges following a massive vandalism incident that resulted in $200,000 worth of damage to heavy construction machinery in Tabor City on Monday morning.

Sergeant Drew Zehnder of the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office responded to a property along the 1100 block of Miller Road at approximately 8:33 a.m. on Sept. 28. Upon arrival, investigators discovered extensive damage to two major pieces of heavy equipment: a John Deere 450H LGP bulldozer and a Caterpillar 320GC excavator. Each machine sustained an estimated $100,000 in damages.

Deputies identified four male juveniles—ages 12, 12, 13, and 15—as suspects in connection with the trespass and property destruction. Due to their ages, the suspects’ identities are withheld under state juvenile privacy laws.

The incident remains under active investigation by the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office.

All individuals named in this report are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
