Stolen Handgun Belonging to Durham Police Recovered in Chadbourn

CHADBOURN, NC — A firearm reported stolen out of Durham was recovered by Columbus County Sheriff’s deputies during an investigation in Chadbourn on Monday night.

Deputy Da’Norie Mack responded to a call on the 2800 block of Joe Brown Highway South around 7:40 p.m. on Sept. 28. During the investigation, authorities located and seized a 9mm Taurus G3C handgun valued at $300.

A query of the weapon’s serial number revealed it had been reported stolen directly from the Durham Police Department. The Sheriff’s Office logged the firearm as recovered stolen property as the investigation continues.

All individuals named in this report are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
