Conway Caregiver Charged in Case Involving Vulnerable Adult

CONWAY, SC — A Conway woman is facing additional charges in a case involving an elderly man whose home and finances were transferred into her control. Coastal Carolina News Previous Coverage 

According to booking information and investigative documents, 58‑year‑old Sarah Smalls was taken into custody Monday on charges of breach of trust with fraudulent intent valued at $5,000 or more, perjury, and exploitation of a vulnerable adult. The case involves allegations that Smalls withdrew more than $17,000 from the man’s accounts and secured the deed to his home on Ackerrose Drive in the spring of 2024.

Records also show the deed was notarized by Smalls’ sister during the transfer process. Additional financial documents and related materials are being reviewed as the investigation continues.

All individuals named in this report are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
