Free Mammogram Access Available in Columbus County Through Appointment‑Based Screening

Whiteville, NC — Columbus County residents can receive free 3D screening mammograms this October through Columbus Regional Healthcare System’s “Give Cancer the Boot” event, scheduled Friday, October 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the hospital’s main entrance,  500 Jefferson Street,  Whiteville.

The event offers no‑cost screenings for uninsured women who qualify, plus free health screenings and a mini health fair. Participants are asked to call 910‑640‑4077 to register and enter a special raffle.

Columbus Regional Healthcare System also continues to provide appointment‑based mammograms through the North Carolina Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP). Hospital staff confirm that BCCCP referrals remain active for uninsured or underinsured women. All screenings are arranged individually through the hospital’s Women’s Center, which handles clinical breast exams, mammogram scheduling, and diagnostic follow‑up.

The program serves women who meet age and income guidelines, offering a vital pathway to early detection for those without insurance. Appointments are required, and walk‑in screenings are not planned outside the October 16 event.

Residents seeking free mammograms may contact Columbus Regional Healthcare System to review eligibility and schedule a screening during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
