Brunswick County, NC –– Brunswick County Health Services is continuing its Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) screenings throughout October, offering free or low‑cost mammograms for eligible women during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The program serves uninsured or underinsured residents who meet age and income guidelines and remains the county’s primary pathway to no‑cost breast cancer screening.
Appointments are scheduled through Brunswick County Health Services, where nurses provide clinical breast exams, coordinate mammogram appointments, and arrange diagnostic follow‑up when needed. Mammograms are performed at partner facilities including Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center in Bolivia, and Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport.
Dosher Memorial Hospital will also host a Breast Cancer Awareness information table on Wednesday, October 14, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The booth offers breast‑health education and guidance on screening access for residents who do not have insurance coverage. The educational materials are free to the public, though mammogram appointments must be scheduled separately through BCCCP.
Brunswick County’s continued participation in the statewide program ensures that eligible women have access to early‑detection services throughout October, even without a large public screening event.
