Unexpected Visitor Prompts Safe Wildlife Removal in Ocean Isle Beach
By Coastal Carolina News Staff Writer
OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC — What began as an ordinary day for an Ocean Isle Beach resident turned into an unusual wildlife encounter when an alligator was discovered taking shelter underneath a parked vehicle.
According to a social media post from the Ocean Isle Beach Police Department, officers responded to the call after the resident found the reptile beneath their car.
Police said Officer Morrison safely captured the alligator and relocated it to a more suitable habitat without incident.
The department shared the lighthearted update with the message, “Later Alligator!!!” and thanked Officer Morrison for handling the situation.
Encounters with alligators are not uncommon in coastal North Carolina communities, particularly during warmer months when the animals may travel between ponds, canals, wetlands, and other water sources. Wildlife officials generally advise residents to keep a safe distance from alligators and contact authorities if an animal appears in an unsafe location.
No injuries were reported in the incident.
The Ocean Isle Beach Police Department described the call as “just another day in paradise,” highlighting the unique challenges and occasional surprises that come with living along the Carolina coast.
