EVERGREEN, N.C. — Emergency responders from multiple area fire departments were dispatched to a severe structure fire on Old Boardman Road Wednesday evening, which left a local residence heavily damaged.

Units were called to the scene at 1177 Old Boardman Road shortly after 7:40 p.m. following reports of an active blaze. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered a singlewide mobile home fully engulfed in flames.

Crews worked quickly to suppress the fire and prevent it from spreading to adjacent areas. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident, though the home sustained extensive interior and structural damage.

According to Deputy Fire Marshal Jonathan Juhl, preliminary findings indicate the fire originated in a bedroom located on the north side of the home. However, due to the severity of the structural collapse and interior destruction, an exact point of ignition and cause remain undetermined at this time.

Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation (BEMC) crews responded to the scene to safely disconnect electrical power to the property. The American Red Cross was also contacted to assist the displaced occupants with emergency shelter and essential supplies.

The cause of the fire remains under official investigation by county officials.
