CONWAY, SC — A Conway woman has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges stemming from two violent incidents that occurred on the same day in 2025, according to Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson.
Ms. Lashenda Lucas, 39, pleaded guilty Monday to strong‑armed robbery and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature. Assistant Solicitor Delbert Leasure prosecuted the case for the Fifteenth Circuit Solicitor’s Office. Prosecutors said the plea was negotiated.
Circuit Court Judge Benjamin Culbertson sentenced Lucas to 15 years on each charge and ordered the sentences to run concurrently. Under South Carolina law, Lucas must serve at least 85 percent of her sentence before becoming eligible for parole. She also received a strike under the state’s three‑strikes law, meaning she could face a life‑without‑parole sentence if she is convicted of another offense classified as serious.
The charges arose from two separate incidents on April 9, 2025, in the Bathsheba Park area of Myrtle Beach.
In the first incident, a woman reported that Lucas confronted her and said, “You owe me money.” Investigators said the victim told police that Lucas forced her to empty her purse onto the ground, punched her twice in the back of the head, took prescription pills, and ran away. The victim later identified Lucas from a six‑photo lineup.
The second incident occurred later the same day. A man told police he was walking with a friend near a convenience store when Lucas confronted him and claimed he owed her money. A fight followed, and the victim reported that Lucas stabbed him several times in the chest and cut his neck. He was able to flee to a nearby home, where the resident called police and EMS.
“We appreciate officers with the Myrtle Beach Police Department investigating the separate incidents and bringing this defendant to justice for these crimes,” Leasure said.
