WHITEVILLE, NC — It still feels like summer with the lingering heat, but our community knows the seasons change quickly and now is the time for us to look ahead together as Facts of Life Outreach prepares to reopen The Warming Shelter for the 2026–2027 season. Pastor Daisy Brooks says the work begins now, long before the first cold snap arrives, and they’re calling on residents to come together in service.
The shelter, located at 506 North Lee Street in Whiteville, will hold an interest meeting on Monday, September 21 at 7 p.m. in The Center behind the church. Organizers say they are seeking qualified volunteers to help operate the facility and support guests throughout the winter months. Facts of Life Outreach has served the Whiteville community for multiple years through faith‑based programs including food distributions, clothing assistance, and seasonal support. The warming‑shelter ministry reflects that ongoing mission, offering a safe place for residents during periods of severe cold.
