RIEGELWOOD, NC — Sheriff’s deputies are seeking an unidentified rider who led law enforcement on a pursuit along Canal Road before fleeing the area on Wednesday evening.
Deputy Timothy B. Stewart observed a Yamaha Raptor 700 FI all-terrain vehicle operating on Canal Road at approximately 6:03 PM on Oct. 28. When Deputy Stewart attempted a traffic stop, the rider accelerated, prompting a high-speed chase.
The rider evaded arrest and now faces pending charges of felony fleeing and eluding with a motor vehicle and resisting a public officer. The Yamaha Raptor was seized by deputies as evidence.
All individuals named in this report are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
