Lumberton Man Arrested in Columbus County with Stolen Firearm and Concealed Weapon

WHITEVILLE, NC — An early Friday morning officer encounter in Columbus County led to multiple firearm charges and the execution of outstanding warrants against a Robeson County man.

Deputies with the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office arrested 25-year-old Luquan Montre Carter of Lumberton, NC, shortly before 2:45 a.m. on Friday, July 24.

According to detention logs, deputies conducted a stop and found Carter in possession of a stolen firearm. He was formally charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm and misdemeanor carrying a concealed gun. In addition to the local weapons charges, deputies discovered Carter was actively wanted by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office on multiple outstanding warrants for failing to appear in court regarding prior misdemeanor offenses.

Carter was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center under a combined $17,000 secured bond ($16,000 for the Columbus County weapons charges and $1,000 for the Robeson County warrants).

Any individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
