LELAND, NC — Construction is well underway on the new Leland Village Shopping Center, a 131,795‑square‑foot retail development rising along U.S. 17 across from The Villages at Brunswick Forest. The project, anchored by Publix, is taking shape as one of the largest additions to Leland’s commercial corridor and is expected to open in 2027.
Steel framing and site work now outline the footprint of the center, which will feature a broad mix of national retailers, restaurants, medical providers and personal‑care businesses. Alongside Publix, the tenant lineup includes Marshalls, Ulta Beauty, Heartland Dental and EmergeOrtho. Additional tenants include Chase Bank, Hollywood Feed, First Watch, Domino’s Pizza, Wingstop, Handel’s Ice Cream, FS8 Pilates, Qdoba, Mattress Firm, Sport Clips and Glo MedSpa, which offers nonsurgical cosmetic treatments.
Developers are building the center to serve one of the region’s strongest retail markets.
Within three miles of the site, the population is projected to grow by 7% over the next five years, reaching roughly 22,000 residents. The average household income in that radius exceeds $100,000, well above the national average. That combination of high‑income households and steady growth has helped drive demand for grocery, soft‑goods retail, dining and expanded medical services.
The U.S. 17 corridor continues to transform as Brunswick Forest expands and new residential phases come online, bringing sustained commercial interest from national brands. The addition of Publix and a wide mix of daily‑use and destination retailers is expected to further establish the area as a regional shopping hub.
More details on construction progress, tenant build‑outs and final opening timelines are expected as the project advances.
