TABOR CITY — A 59-year-old man with a history of recent violent and felony drug charges across state lines is back behind bars after being taken into custody in Columbus County on Wednesday morning.
Edward Lee McGill, 59, of Horry County, South Carolina, was booked into the Columbus County Detention Center at approximately 9:00 a.m. on Aug. 26. Court and jail records indicate McGill was charged with a felony probation violation and remains held under a $500,000 secure bond.
The latest arrest follows a sequence of serious legal troubles for McGill across the Carolinas in 2026.
In May, McGill was arrested in Horry County, S.C., where he was charged with attempted murder and placed under a $300,000 bond.
Earlier in the year, local authorities took McGill into custody during a January operation in Columbus County. In that instance, the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office charged him with multiple offenses, including possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver cocaine; possession with intent to distribute a Schedule VI controlled substance; maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances; possession of a firearm with an altered or removed serial number; and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed under a $50,000 bond for those charges.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the specific conditions or prior convictions connected to Wednesday’s probation violation charge.
All individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
