Horry County Sheriff’s Office Commends Deputy Harvey Tenny for Life‑Saving Response on Highway 378

CONWAY, SC — Horry County Sheriff’s Office is recognizing Deputy Harvey Tenny for his decisive actions that helped save a man’s life following a crash on Highway 378.

On August 27, 2026, Deputy Tenny was driving home from the Government and Justice Center when he noticed another patrol vehicle heading northbound on Highway 378 with lights and sirens activated. The responding officer requested assistance at a crash near Grainger Road, and Deputy Tenny diverted to the scene.

When he arrived, Deputy Tenny saw the officer attempting to revive an unresponsive driver. Acting immediately, he retrieved Narcan and administered two doses to the individual on the roadside. The driver regained consciousness, and EMS personnel took over medical care.

Although off duty at the time, Deputy Tenny’s rapid response and willingness to step in prevented a potentially fatal outcome. Horry County Sheriff’s Office commends him for his professionalism, quick thinking, and commitment to public safety.
