William “Sherwood” Strickland, age 74 of Chadbourn passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Sherwood was born on August 10, 1952 to the late William Melvin Strickland and Josephine Greene Strickland. He was also preceded in death by his son, William S. Strickland Jr. and two grandsons, David Ivey Jr. and River Ross; and sister Kathy Todd.
Sherwood honorably served his country in the United States Navy.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Williamsons Crossroads Baptist Church with Pastor Trent Ford officiating.
The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the church.
Surviving family includes his wife, Cynthia Brown Strickland of the home; children, Contina Buffkin (Monty), Cody Bonds (Joe), and Matthew Ross (Maggie); grandchildren, Kaylyn Shelley, Lane Shelley, and Luke Carballo; great-grandchildren, Lainey Grace Ward, Calan Ivey, Lawson Ivey, and Avery Ross; and brother, Marty Strickland
