Columbus County, NC — Hallsboro Road South is reopen to at least one lane of travel after an early‑morning head‑on collision near 1062 Hallsboro Road South that initially closed down the two‑lane road.

The crash, involving a tractor‑trailer and a passenger van, was dispatched at 2:40 a.m. according to Hallsboro Volunteer Fire Department. Emergency crews worked through the early morning to secure the scene and manage traffic. By 9:30 a.m., one lane was confirmed open while responders continued operations in the area.

A nearby resident, L. Hogan, wrote on Facebook that the impact “shook the house,” adding they could see the truck’s lights in a field and praising local responders as “one of the best in Columbus County.”

Drivers should remain alert for personnel and equipment until the roadway is fully cleared.
