MYRTLE BEACH, SC — The South Atlantic Shrine Association Parade is making its return to Myrtle Beach next weekend, bringing marching units, festive displays, and temporary traffic modifications to the oceanfront.
City officials released details regarding the upcoming event, highlighting key road closures, parking restrictions, and designated emergency access lanes designed to manage the influx of visitors and maintain traffic flow along Ocean Boulevard.
The main highlight of the weekend, the Shriners’ Parade, is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The procession will kick off at 17th Avenue South and travel along Ocean Boulevard.
To accommodate the parade safely, significant traffic restrictions will go into effect on the morning of the event. Ocean Boulevard from 17th Avenue South to Springmaid Boulevard will close to regular traffic starting at 8:45 a.m., with the closure expected to remain in place until approximately 1:00 p.m. Additionally, no parking will be permitted along the parade route from 7:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m., and guests and employees in the area are encouraged to park west of Ocean Boulevard.
An emergency lane will be established on the eastern lane of Ocean Boulevard, closest to the ocean, to allow visitors and hotel or resort employees to exit the area during the closure. This lane will operate for northbound travel only.
Law enforcement officers will be stationed at key intersections—including Springmaid Boulevard, 27th Avenue South, 25th Avenue South, and 21st Avenue South—to assist motorists navigating the traffic modifications:

Springmaid Boulevard to 27th Avenue South: Access the northbound emergency lane at Springmaid Boulevard and exit using 27th Avenue South.

Locations North of 27th Avenue South: Enter the emergency lane at 27th Avenue South and exit via 25th Avenue South.

Locations North of 25th Avenue South: Enter at 25th Avenue South and exit using 21st Avenue South.

Locations North of 21st Avenue South: Access the lane at 21st Avenue South and exit using 16th Avenue South.
Police officers will remain on-site throughout the morning to assist drivers with routing and local access. Motorists traveling through the area are advised to anticipate delays, allow extra travel time, and follow the directions of law enforcement personnel.
